Nailsworth CofE Primary School

Nailsworth Primary School was selected as the second institution to participate in the solar photovoltaic (PV) initiative as part of the pilot programme aimed at promoting renewable energy sources in educational settings. This project involved the installation of a robust 30kW solar PV system, which was integrated with a state-of-the-art FoxESS inverter. In addition, each solar panel was equipped with the innovative TIGO system, designed specifically for solar panel optimisation and enhanced fire safety. The primary objective of this initiative was to evaluate the potential energy production and the corresponding cost savings that could be achieved through on-site solar energy generation.

The solar PV system was meticulously optimised to coincide with the school's energy usage patterns during the daytime, which is when the majority of the electricity consumption occurs. By aligning the generation of solar energy with the peak usage times, the system ensures that the maximum amount of electricity produced is self-consumed, thus reducing reliance on grid electricity and lowering utility costs. Additionally, the FoxESS inverter is designed with future scalability in mind; it includes the capability to incorporate battery storage solutions at a later stage. This feature not only enhances the school's energy independence but also contributes to a sustainable energy strategy that can evolve over time. By supporting the long-term goals of the pilot programme, this installation serves as a model for other educational institutions looking to adopt renewable energy technologies and promote environmental stewardship among their students and staff.
