Completed solar installation

St Pauls School

Solar PV

40kW

Gloucester

We successfully installed a robust 40kW solar photovoltaic (PV) system, utilizing a highly efficient Huawei inverter, which is known for its reliability and advanced technology. The design of the solar array was strategically split across three separate arrays, allowing for optimized energy capture and distribution. This innovative system was specifically designed to assist the school in significantly reducing its energy costs while simultaneously lowering its dependence on grid power, thus promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility.

During the comprehensive planning phase of the project, we conducted a thorough assessment of the existing infrastructure. It became clear that the main school building was not suitable for the installation of solar panels due to various structural limitations, including roof angle and material constraints that could jeopardize the integrity of the installation. To address these challenges, we made a strategic decision to mount the solar arrays on the gym section of the school. This location not only provided a better roof orientation, maximizing exposure to sunlight, but also allowed for a more efficient layout that optimized the space available for the solar panels. The gym's roof structure was found to be more conducive to supporting the weight and installation requirements of the solar system, ensuring both safety and performance.

In selecting Huawei as our inverter provider, we also considered future scalability and flexibility. The choice of this brand offers the school a significant advantage, as it allows for the potential retrofitting of battery storage solutions down the line if they choose to expand their solar energy system. This foresight into future needs means the school can adapt to changing energy requirements without the need for a complete overhaul of the existing setup. The completed solar PV project now stands as a testament to innovation and sustainability, providing clean, reliable energy that directly contributes to the school’s long-term sustainability goals. Not only does it reduce operational costs, but it also serves as an educational tool for students, illustrating the importance of renewable energy and environmental stewardship.
